Meet the Team
Atlas
I’m Atlas Klapp, owner of Klapp Ceramics, and I create handmade pottery and pieces for the home. Working with clay is a personal practice for me, and a way to inspire others to deepen their connection to, and reverence for, the Earth. I have a degree in Ceramic Art, and my work has been featured in British Vogue, Santa Barbara Magazine, and Voyage LA, and in various local markets and shops in Santa Barbara. At my studio-workspace in Carpinteria, I offer open studio shopping, private ceramics lessons, and “clay dates.”
Kylie
Hey folks! I’m Kylie, I am an Environmental Studies student at UC Santa Barbara with a passion for the outdoors and pottery! I grew up exploring the redwoods and my creativity in Santa Cruz, CA and have been making ceramics since my first year of high school. My love for people and connecting with the world around me led me to my academic career at UCSB and here to Klapp Ceramics where I get to share my love for pottery with my community. When I’m not in the studio, you can find me in the water, rollerskating around town, or climbing in the mountains!
Ella
Hello! I’m Ella. I have been working with clay on and off for the last 12 years. Starting out in the ceramics department at Malibu High School, I have strengthened my experience working in private studios, developing my own practice and doing commission work, and have worked in studios in Ojai and Vermont. I currently work as a teacher and technician at a studio in England. Clay has always felt like a familiar friend. I love clay for its fluidity, the slow pace it requires, and the opportunity it provides to tune in and get in touch with oneself and the earth. As a teacher I hope to share tips, tricks, and techniques that can help you to grow your relationship with clay and establish your own practice.
